Urban Transportation, Spring ’10
“Bed Side Buddy” , Fall ‘09

“Even though we all come from different areas of study, the Urban Transportation studio brought us  together to explore something we all care about; something that directly affects all of us.”

The Axis Hospital Table was a project I developed during the Fall of 2009 for the “Bed Side Buddy” Studio. The project was a collaboration between Industrial Design and the School of Nursing in which we were asked to innovate within patient care environments.  My research and ideation focused on finding solutions that would address the needs of the patient, the family member (care giver), and the medical professional.  The final design direction features a swiveling tray surface, a top level work surface for the medical professionals, and a support ring to encourage patient movement.
